As the Sustainable Seafood Coordinator at the Ecology Action Centre, I contribute Atlantic Canadian-specific knowledge and context to the SeaChoice partnership. I have worked on liaising with retailers and industry on their sustainable seafood procurement and policies since 2016. I coordinate input into Canadian seafood sustainability rankings and assessments, engage with national policymakers on seafood related issues like labelling and traceability, and collaborate with other NGOs, such as the Conservation Alliance for Seafood Solutions. I also manage SeaChoice’s social media accounts.
Prior to my role at SeaChoice, I worked on various marine conservation initiatives, including sustainable seafood and river restoration in Ontario, marine protected areas in Nova Scotia, and environmental education in South Korea.
I hold a Masters of Marine Management (MMM) from Dalhousie University, and a BA in Aquatic Resource Management with Public Policy and Social Research from St. Francis Xavier University.
